West Ham United are pursuing Sporting's Bruno Fernandes.

According to Sky Sports, West Ham United have offered Sporting a £20million deal for midfielder Bruno Fernandes amid uncertainty over his contract situation.
Fernandes, 23, only joined Sporting from Sampdoria last summer, but he starred for the Portuguese giants, notching 16 goals and 20 assists over the course of the season.
The attacking midfielder's future has now been thrown into doubt, as he was one of a number of Sporting players to terminate his contract after an attack from the club's fans on the training ground.

One has already moved on as Rui Patricio joined Wolverhampton Wanderers, but Sporting may contest the situation yet – and West Ham are attempting to offer the Portuguese giants a compromise.
It's claimed that the Hammers have offered Sporting £20million for Fernandes, which is somewhere between his true value and his free agent status, seemingly hoping that offering such a fee rather than signing him for nothing without the club's consent will help them complete a hassle-free deal.
That seems entirely reasonable, and far more than anything Wolves offered to do for Patricio, with West Ham's hopes potentially boosted by the ousting of president Bruno de Carvalho following the players rescinding their contracts.

As reported by The Telegraph in 2017, then-Sporting president De Carvalho has a stunning row with West Ham co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan, blasting both for their conduct as West Ham attempted to land William Carvalho.
With De Carvalho gone and replacement Sousa Cintra now in place, West Ham may have a greater shot at landing Fernandes, as De Carvalho's history with the Hammers suggests he wouldn't have entertained the compromise offer for the midfielder - but the new regime may just give it greater consideration.
